JP Ceste FBIH part of a large initiative of the European Union and the EBRD for the modernization of road infrastructure in BIH
The European Union and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) launched a new initiative aimed at the modernization of road infrastructure in Bosnia and Herzegovina, through a European Union grant in the amount of 10 million euros, which will support the preparation of priority road projects and the preparation of the necessary technical documentation.
The program will enable the identification and preparation of key infrastructure projects, with the aim of creating conditions for future investments estimated at up to 300 million euros, with the support of the EBRD, the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the World Bank.
As part of this initiative, JP Ceste FBIH will take part in the preparation and implementation of projects that include the modernization and improvement of the main road network in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, focusing on traffic safety, resistance to climate change and harmonization with European Union standards.
On the occasion of the launch of the program, the head of the Delegation of the European Union in BIH, Luigi Soreca, said that through this grant, the European Union will support the preparation of priority road sections and investments mature for implementation, which include up to 800 kilometers of roads in the Federation of BIH and up to 360 kilometers in the Republic of Srpska.
Mandate letters for the start of detailed project preparation will be signed between EBRD representatives and competent institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina. On behalf of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the signatories will be the Federal Minister of Transport and Communications Andrijana Katić and the director of JP Ceste FBIH Ljubo Pravdić.
The director of JP Ceste FBIH, Ljubo Pravdić, pointed out that this initiative represents a significant step towards the systemic improvement of road infrastructure in the Federation of BIH, and an additional opportunity for the preparation of quality projects that will contribute to greater safety of road users, better connectivity and more balanced economic development.
Through cooperation with the European Union, the EBRD and international financial institutions, JP Ceste FBIH continues its activities on the modernization of road infrastructure and the creation of better and safer conditions for the development of traffic throughout the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
