JP Ceste FBIH at the Joint Meeting of the Networks of Road Executives and Railway Infrastructure Managers of the Western Balkans
Representatives of JP Ceste FBIH participated in the Joint Meeting of the Network of Road Executives and Railway Infrastructure Managers of the Western Balkans, held on 2–3 June 2026 in Helsinki and organized by the Transport Community.
The two-day event aimed to facilitate the exchange of experiences and strengthen regional cooperation in the fields of transport system digitalization, traffic management, and the development of sustainable multimodal mobility.
On the first day, participants visited the headquarters of Fintraffic, where they had the opportunity to learn about the Finnish model of integrated management of road, rail, air, and maritime transport. Particular focus was placed on digital traffic management platforms, the use of real-time data, improvements in traffic safety, and the application of innovative technologies and AI in traffic management.
During the expert presentations, Finland’s experience in developing interoperable transport systems, multimodal services for users, and the resilience of transport infrastructure to climate-related challenges was presented.
On the second day, a joint meeting of road directors and railway infrastructure managers from the Western Balkans was held, during which the Addendum to the existing Memorandum of Understanding among the members of the Transport Community were signed. By signing these documents, the participants reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening inter-institutional cooperation, enhancing information exchange, improving coordinated responses to emergency situations, and promoting the development of sustainable and interoperable transport systems across the region.
As part of the roundtable discussion entitled “The Day After: From Commitment to Action”, participants discussed concrete steps to be taken following the signing of the addendum, with a particular focus on strengthening regional cooperation, advancing the digitalization of the transport sector, and building more resilient transport infrastructure.
The meeting also featured presentations on technical assistance and capacity-building programs financed by the Transport Community, including the establishment of National Access Points for transport data, as well as activities related to the establishment of a Rail Centre of Excellence.
The participation of JP Ceste FBIH in this event represents another important step towards strengthening international cooperation and keeping pace with modern European trends in road infrastructure management. The exchange of experiences with leading European institutions and companies contributes to enhancing knowledge and capacities for the development of a safer, more efficient, and more sustainable transport system in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
