Department of Road Safety and Protection, RAMS and IT systems

Department of Road Safety and Protection, RAMS and IT systems provides the following:

• Long-term, mid-term and annual plans and programmes of road safety, protection and management;
• Analysis and periodic reporting on road safety and road protection and management;
• Participating to the public procurement procedures within its field of competence, in accordance with the Rulebook on Public Procurements;
• Organization and provision of technical monitoring of road protection affairs, drafting reports on works performance;
• Preparing and adopting decisions being under the jurisdiction of road public authorities (i.e. extraordinary transports, excessive use of the public roads, construction of facilities and utilities, accesses to public roads, construction of bus stops, utilities laying, advertising signs installation etc.) and taking measures to prevent illegal activities on and alongside the roads;
• Providing prior approval for construction of facilities and installation of utilities within the road reserve;
• Axle load control over the road network;
• Monitoring traffic safety data, detecting the causes of traffic accidents and proposing measures to improve traffic safety;
• Data gathering and keeping roads, road structures, traffic signalling and road equipment data (database);
• Collecting road condition data and providing information to the relevant authorities and road users on road condition and clearance;
• Management of traffic counting affairs and provision of publications on traffic as well as traffic load maps;
• Mid-term plans and programmes for RIS;
• Participating to drafting proposals for changes and amendments to the laws and bylaws, norms and standards of road safety, protection and road management;
• Processing proposals, opinions, conclusions and decisions of the PC Roads of the FBH bodies within its field of competence;
• Creating IT strategy of Roads of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina;
• Planning and organizing the work of database and GIS;
• Monitoring and development of modern IT technologies and their application,
• Introducing new IT systems and monitoring their function;
• Organization, regular maintenance and improvement of the web site of Roads of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina;
• Drafting proposals for specific procurement procedures within its field of competence;
• Cooperating with the relevant state, federal and cantonal institutions and their bodies, as well as other government departments;
• Organization of other affairs within its field of competence,
• Cooperating with other organizational units within PC Roads.
