Information on traffic on main roads in FBiH
Due to the heavy snowfall that has hit our country in the past few days, road traffic in FBiH has been difficult, especially over the main road network bearing the highest traffic density.
FBH Roads, as the manager of the main road network in FBiH, in cooperation with their contractors for routine maintenance, is making maximum efforts to continuously provide winter maintenance services, including the engagement of all available resources, both personnel and machinery.
We remind you that the winter begins on 15 November of the current year and is carried out in accordance with Clause 4 of the Regulation on Traffic in Winter Conditions, where it is particularly important to emphasize the following:
- During winter conditions, traffic by motor and HG vehicles with trailers with no winter equipment, or failure to use the equipment, is prohibited.
- In the event of heavy snowfall, large snowdrifts, snowdrifts or ice formation, the competent internal affairs authority, with the consent of the competent traffic authority, may temporarily prohibit or restrict traffic for all vehicles or certain categories of vehicles on a specific road or part of the road.
- The competent internal affairs authority may temporarily prohibit traffic for a specific category of vehicles until conditions for safe traffic are met.
Unfortunately, despite legal regulations and intense snowfall, there are frequent cases of passenger and especially HG vehicles that do not have adequate winter equipment, or do not use it, therefore blocking the road traffic and preventing pavement cleaning, especially on the mountain passes.
Furthermore, on sections over mountain passes with trampled snow and ice, additional difficulties are caused to drivers by strong winds that create snowdrifts that lead to absolute traffic blockages in very short time (e.i. Drvar - Bosanski Petrovac).
We appeal to all road users not to start their journey without mandatory winter equipment and to comply with all traffic regulations and restrictions for vehicles of certain categories, which will primarily ensure their personal safety, and then the timely cleaning of the roadway and the safe flow of traffic on main roads.
